Ruth is a Southern Baptist minister’s wife. Bound to be dutiful, performing the role of a preacher’s wife with grace and compassion, she has a secret. While preparing Sunday school lessons for the children, teaching at the Wednesday night women’s bible study and sitting attentively each Sunday at her husband’s vigorous sermons nodding her head in agreement with an occasional ‘amen,’ no one suspects. People see what they want to see. Ruth doesn’t believe in God.
