Wedding questions: 

Please copy, answer and either email the answered questions or bring them with you to our meeting. This document is for a potential bride and groom to sit down and discuss together if they are serious about marriage…enjoy  

 

  1. Are you sure you want to do this?
  2. Do you understand that even up to the moment you say ‘I do’ you can pull out.  This is about you not anyone else….. not even the Bride’s mother!

 

    3.   Have you thought about and talked about all the key life questions:

  •    Is this the last person you want to sleep with?
  •    Can you picture yourselves having fun at 65 together?
  •    Do you want kids?
  •    How many?
  •    What kind?
  •    How will you raise them?
  •   What do you really want to be when you grow up?
  •   What are your dreams?

 

4.  If you career path went the way you envision where will you be in ten years?

  •  15?
  •  25?

5.   Pets?

  •   Cats or dogs?

6. Who will manage the money?

  •    Joint accounts or separate?
  •   Why?

7. What will your last name be?

  •   Who will change if either and why/why not?
  •   What will your kids last names be?

8. What is the capital of Denmark?

  •  (Just seeing if you were still reading along. Hehe)

9.  Do you want to travel?

  • Where? When?
  •  How?

10. What are your spiritual beliefs?

  •  Will you raise your kids that way?

11.  Do you have any hidden….

  •   Debt
  •  Family
  •  Spouses
  • Criminal records

12. Do you smoke dope?

  •   Where do you get it? (Still paying attention?)

13. Have you had a fight/disagreement yet?

  • If not, go back to beginning and answer honestly this time
  • How will you react to fights?
  • How will you settle them?
  • Will you hold a grudge?
  • What will you do if you see me looking at someone else?

14. What is your idea of romance?

  • What is the most romantic thing you have ever done?
  • What about before we met?

15.  Old boy/girl friends

  •   Have you talked about them?
  •   Do you have any questions about them?
  •   Do you still keep in touch with any of them?
  • In what way?

16.  If I get drunk one night and get arrested for something silly will you come bail me out or let me stew for the night?

17. Where will we live?

18.  Can we share the bed?

  •  Are we sexually compatible?
  • How do we know?

19.  If you are the driver of a bus with 6 people on it.  Then you stop to drop off 3 and pick up 6, then at the next stop drop off 9 and pick up 2, then at the next stop drop 1 and pick up 4.  What is the bus driver’s name?

Okay, now to the service…..

 

Participants:

  •   Who do you want to get involved?
  •   Do you want them to:
  •   Read (what?)
  •  Perform (what and for how long?)
  •  Hold something
  •  Just look pretty

 

   Are there people you HAVE to involve?  (Maybe they are paying?)

  •  What will they do?

 

How will you open?

  •    Parade in, in order
  •    Just assemble
  •   Have the keg cracked well before hand and start when the bride is drunk enough?
  •  With music?  If so what? (Ride of the Valkyries?)

Is there a reading/song/music or something that captures you and how you feel about each other that we can open with?

What do you want the Vicar/minister to say/not say?

  •    Humor?
  •   Spirituality?
  •   Prayers?
  •   Formal?
  •  Like the guy in Princess Bride?

 

Vows:

  •  It’s your wedding – what do you want to profess to each other
  •  Have you though about it? (If not start again at the top)
  •  Formal/light/funny/make the bride’s mother cry like a baby?
  •  Will you work on them together or separately?
  •  Still not sure…. Well how much does s/he mean to you?
  •  Write down your explanation and start there

 

Ring bit:

  •   How do you want to do this?
  •  Formal

   Involve others

   How does this fit with the vows?

  •    Separate (we’ll do the formal ‘I Do’ bit too)
  •   Built into vows

 

Filler stuff:

  •   Do you want some memorable interjections through the formal ceremony?
  •  The French do this more between courses during the reception
  • Who do you want to do what?
  • Music
  • Reading
  • Scripture
  •   Waxing lyrical on the subject of marriage?
  • The Vicar doing a bit of a sermon?

The closing:

  •   How do you want the formal bit to finish?
  •  Classically (I now pronounce….)
  •  Fun (Bride picks up groom and runs away)
  •   Soppy (A really big juicy kiss!)
  •  A bit of all the above

  • -        Who should be there?
  • -        Who do we want there?
  • -        Who do we have to have there?
  • -        Who do Mom & Dad want us to have there?
  • -        Are there people who can not sit in the same room together?
  • -        Who can only be at the reception?
  • -        Who can only be at the wedding?
  • -        Who MUST not come to either?
