I will not cover up to make you comfortable

Oil/Glass on canvas

This piece deals with my mother; she always wore a terrible wig to cover her baldness from the chemo. It was hot and uncomfortable, yet she was embarrassed by her lack of hair and how people would react to her, so she suffered the fake hair for others… even though she was the one in pain. Our society judges us on how we look and conform to norms. We need to rebel . If we were all the same, the world would be a very dull place. Acceptance of where we find ourselves in each changing moment offers peace and compassion, a new way of seeing life. I will not sacrifice who I am to make you comfortable.
